Ryan Spong

As CEO and co-founder of Vancouver-headquartered food-tech company Foodee, Ryan Spong is currently addressing the $210 billion online food market. Recently acquired by Sodexo, Foodee serves over 4,000 corporate clients in 15 major North American cities through 800 owner-operated restaurant partners. Foodee’s platform powers daily and weekly meal ordering to modern offices including Amazon, Facebook, Deloitte and Microsoft. Ryan was recruited from his MBA at the University of Toronto in 2003 to become a successful investment banker and later found Mainstreet Advisors. He raised tens of millions of dollars for public companies, some of which he served as CEO and CFO. He founded, grew and sold several innovative businesses, including Raincity Rock and Preform Construction. In 2010, he invested in Tacofino Cantina, becoming a partner and restaurateur to help it grow to nine locations, and then again with Superbaba. In 2013, he joined Foodee as CEO and put in place growth strategies that led to the 2017, 2018, and 2019 Deloitte Fast50 Awards. Ryan serves on the board of The Presidents Group, which advocates for accessible employment for those with physical or cognitive barriers. He and his family live in the growing tech startup hub of Mount Pleasant in Vancouver, BC.
