I won't use those eye twitching words that we all seem to dread. You know the words: passionate, driven, creative and so on. Oops I suppose I just did. Oh well, moving on. I’d rather draw a picture of who I am. I grew up in a small town in Alberta and have two older brothers. You could imagine what this would do to a girl. From pond hockey to farm adventures I was forever trying to keep up and beat the boys. When they would exclude me . . . well, that only fueled my fire. I was relentless and that with my need to be one of the guys led me into sports. I was constantly training to be the best of the best which landed me the female athlete of the year award. This to me was one of my finest moments because I felt I got the ultimate “aha” on my brothers. The only girl syndrome is still apparent in my life today. You will see me on weekends pushing myself to hike the hardest mountains, fishing on the river for that perfect catch, perfecting my golf swing (if that is even possible), or just pushing myself past that last rep or sprint in the gym. The eagerness to be challenged is what started my career in marketing and sales 10 years ago. The environment is erratic, and every day presents a new mountain to climb (pun intended). I am constantly looking for ways to try to innovate; taking the initiative to learn more to help ideate and pioneer. I enjoy the ability to come into work daily and push myself to understand and adapt to the ever-changing demands of the world. It is such a complex world and to me it’s the ultimate and never-ending challenge. I enjoy knowing to be successful in this environment I will have to evolve just as much as it does. I hope that painted a good enough picture and maybe I will see you on the trails or in the trenches of my next adventure.
