I have spent the entirety of my career in change-making positions. Whether working for private industry, government or non-profit organizations, I have always driven organizations into new territory, expanding markets and opportunities. I believe this is just how I’m wired. Right out of my masters I had the privilege to join and then come to lead the corporate consulting wing of Ecostrat, a bio-fuel consultancy. It was my job to lead the collection and synthesis of detailed and nuanced information to determine the feasibility of new projects for multi-billion-dollar energy companies. This feasibility “lens” I developed has stayed with me and provided tremendous value in developing and pitching new projects to varied audiences. While at Ecostrat I developed a new line of business in the emerging field of Biogass that has since become the largest source of revenue for the consultancy. Since my Ecostrat days I have held a variety of management and leadership positions including tenures in Government and non-profits where I wrote hundreds of thousands of dollar’s worth of successful grants, worked on Canada’s reporting commitment to the Unitied Nations, and evaluated numerous projects for as a third party consultant. In 2017, Dr. Gina Conte and I saw an incredible opportunity in the then emergent cannabis and psychoactive space. We set out on an ambitious path to model the human cannabis experience. On this journey, we hit a major roadblock which was that chemical data on products was not accessible. In working with our retail and analytics partners we realized that this problem was not our alone. This same problem was causing retailers to lose money and was frustrating the already stressed operations of producers. Since this problem was in our way and, in the way of the industry, we decided to solve it. We focused our energies and began developing the concept for the Producer Connect Data and Marketing Platform. As CEO of Cannametrics, it is my distinct pleasure to lead an incredible team, again into innovative territory, to provide critical technology tools for a burgeoning industry. Cannabis and psychoactives represent not only an immense financial opportunity, but also signal an exciting change in our society that will benefit millions of people and I am honored to get to play a part.
