This painting, inspired by the Kaamulan Festival 2023, marks the time when the pandemic had finally lifted and people longed once again to gather, to celebrate.

The woman in the portrait embodies not only a performer, but also a bearer of memory and tradition. Through her dance, she reveals her people’s story, their resilience, identity, and existence, as reflected in her emotions. This work carries multiple layers of art: the living performance itself, the craftsmanship of her garments, the captured vision of photographer Mr. Leimuel Pantuhan, and finally, my own brushstrokes that translated it into canvas.

Together, form one collective expression, a tribute to culture, community, and the human spirit’s return to connection.🙏❤️
