Description
Gagan Foods is one of Canada's leading wholesale grocery distributors, supplying more than 3,000 different food and kitchenware products across the country. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service and quality products to our customers. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated Accounting Clerk to join our dynamic team.
Position Overview: We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to handle both accounts payable and receivable functions. This full-time role requires someone who is methodical, efficient, and ready to contribute to the smooth financial operations of our company.
Key Responsibilities:
-------Accounts Payable-------:
1. Process and verify invoices for payment.
2. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
3. Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
4. Maintain accurate records of all payable transactions.
-------Accounts Receivable-------:
1. Generate and send out invoices.
2. Follow up on, collect, and allocate payments.
3. Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
4. Maintain detailed records of all receivable transactions.
-------General Accounting Duties-------:
1. Assist in month-end closing activities.
2. Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings, and statements.
3. Assist with financial audits and provide necessary documentation.
4. Maintain confidentiality of all financial data.
5. Support the finance department with various administrative tasks as needed.
-------Qualifications-------:
1. Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as an accounting clerk or in a similar role.
3. Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office (especially Excel).
4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
8. Must be fluent in Punjabi due to the nature of the business and customer base.
9. Candidate must be on an open work permit, a permanent resident, or a Canadian citizen.
