The Italian Cultural Centre is proud to introduce “Osteria al Centro,” a brand-new authentic Italian pizzeria and bar offering a variety of savoury Italian dishes in an atmosphere reminiscent of the best casual eateries in Italy. We are seeking passionate individuals to join our team! Positions available include pizzaiolos, sous chefs, cooks, bartenders, baristas, servers, and supervisors. Organization Profile

Founded in 1977, the Italian Cultural Centre’s mission is “to promote Italian language, culture and heritage and to share these with other communities”. Created by volunteers, with financial support from the Province of BC and the City of Vancouver, the Centre serves as a vital reference and focal point for the Lower Mainland’s Italian Canadian Community and for all those in the greater community who appreciate Italian culture “Il Centro” has operated for over 40 years and presents a broad spectrum of cultural programming, events and activities on an annual basis.

Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:

· Welcome customers by determining their coffee interests and needs

· Educate customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu, answering questions

· Prepare coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso, cafe latte, and cappuccino

· Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar

· Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs

· Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations

· Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate needs to have the following knowledge and experience:

· Education: Serving It Right

· 1 Year Work Experience in similar position

· Knowledge of traditional coffee menu and the ability to prepare each menu item following any specific recipe and set of standards presented. (espresso, espresso macchiato, cortado, flat white, latte, cappuccino, americano, mocha)

· Extensive experience in dialling in espresso, steaming milk to different temperatures and textures, and pouring consistent latte art with different kinds of milk. (whole, oat, almond, soy)

· Experience in grinder and espresso machine cleaning and maintenance.

· Fluent English language skills in both verbal and written communications

· Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

· Excellent customer service skills

· High sense of responsibility, driven and outgoing personality

· Good technical/computer skills

· Legally eligible to work in Canada

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week

Flexible Language Requirement:

• French not required

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Evening shift
• Weekends as needed
