SUMMARY
The position is responsible for developing and coordinating a variety of communications materials, including but not limited to communications plans, key messages, news releases and social media and website content. This position plays an integral role in ensuring consistency across the organization and maintaining a high quality of communications for both external and internal audiences.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Liaises with teams across the organization to understand their communications needs, develop communications strategies, and plan and produce content to fulfill communications objectives for regulated entities, consumers, and the public.
  • Reviews external communications, including regulatory instruments, website copy, and email/newsletter content for regulated entities, to ensure content adheres to BCFSA’s style guide and brand book.
  • Supports the corporate communications engagement plan and calendar, keeping managers and project leads apprised of communication deliverables and timelines.
  • Develops articles, press releases, and media pitches to disseminate information to media outlets and the public; responds to inquiries and coordinates interviews.
  • Writes compelling copy for owned, earned, and paid media channels to enhance brand visibility, drive audience engagement, and achieve strategic communication goals.
  • Monitors media coverage and industry trends, providing insights and recommendations to enhance our communication strategies.
  • Provides feedback to project teams, subject matter experts, and writers to help them streamline and clarify their communications.
  • Boosts brand awareness and visibility through content development, considering keyword research, audience engagement, and increased SEO.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a communications role responsible for developing and coordinating a variety of communications materials, including but not limited to communications plans, key messages, news releases, and social media and website content.
  • 3 to 5 years of copywriting and editing experience, with a proven track record of editing with an eye for grammar and spelling errors while building audience engagement.
  • A background in journalism, media relations, public relations, financial services, or in a regulatory environment is considered an asset.
  • High-level knowledge of CP style with meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Prior experience in managing and leading internal and/or external communication programs and projects.
  • Experience working with Office 365 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Developing accessible content for large target audiences, including the public.
  • Collaborative attitude.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, English, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
