About the Role
At Family Services of Greater Vancouver, we’ve been helping people in crisis since 1928. As a non-profit, we help people develop skills and knowledge, empowering our neighbours to create positive change in their lives. Our team is made up of more than 420 staff, including expert counsellors and support workers who provide compassionate, client-centered care to youth experiencing homelessness, families and children impacted by trauma, victims of domestic violence, and other vulnerable people from an evidence-based, trauma-informed lens. We believe in building a brighter future for all British Columbians and providing a supportive and inclusive workplace for all our staff.
Working within the mission, vision, values and person-centered philosophy of the Agency, the Marketing Coordinator will provide support to the Marketing & Communications team at Family Services of Greater Vancouver. Projects will include social media, digital marketing, content marketing, and design.

Work Hours: 35 hours per week (Full-Time)
Duration: 16 weeks, beginning May 2024
Salary: GS 4 Step 1, $19.80/hr
Location: 1638 E Broadway, Vancouver, with hybrid flexibility

The Marketing Coordinator is a valued member of our small, positive Marketing and Communications team. Your skillset elevates the execution of our marketing and communications strategies and assets to reach and engage with potential clients.
You bring strong and creative visual design skills; the ability to write clear, compelling content; experience in content marketing; proficiency in specific digital tools and platforms; a willingness to engage in the community; and an interest in marketing for social good.
You enjoy working on a range of projects, including small ones; are committed to continuously improving the assets we create; don’t mind a quick turnaround; and appreciate working with a diverse, compassionate team of people committed to helping the thousands of families and individuals our organization serves every year.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Excellent computer, communication, and organizational skills
- Fluent in English
- Proficient in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
Education, Training, Experience
- Currently enrolled in a College or University, preferably in a field related to Marketing, Communications, or Community Engagement
- Must have full-time student status during the periods of Sept 2022 – April 2023 and Sept 2023 -April 2024, and be 30 years of age or under
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination status will be required
- Must be either a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations * International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or Permanent residents
Your Key Contributions:
- Campaign & Creative Development: Work closely with the team on the development and execution of upcoming campaigns for Victims & Survivors of Crime Week and Homelessness Action Week, as well as ongoing work on a significant brand awareness campaign.
- Social Media: Support the Justice & Equity Committee with the development of an annual social justice content calendar. Work closely with the Communications Specialist on all agency social media content, including channels for Directions Youth Services and FSGV.
- Digital Marketing: Work closely with the Marketing Specialist on CRM management, developing donor lists and building strategy for email marketing. Take part in Google for Non-Profit Suite through researching, monitoring, and reporting including Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Search Engine and Google My Business. Make web updates to support program marketing and events.
- Content Creation & Writing: Contribute to the agency’s annual report through project management, writing, and resource gathering. Pitch, write, and edit blog and newsletter content. Assist with copywriting for digital advertisements including Google Ads, Social Media Ads, Banners, and other digital graphics. Help maintain the agency event calendar for programming.
- Design: Create posters, brochures, and web and social media graphics to promote programs, campaigns, and events. Help coordinate photo and video shoots.
