Our team is growing, and we're looking for a Senior Interior Designer to support our expanding Hotel, Restaurant and Resorts brands.

The design studio at Northland Properties specializes in creating exceptional hospitality interiors. Across our extensive portfolio of hotels, restaurants, and resorts, our interior designers focus on creating meaningful and effective guest environments. Our Senior Interior Designers focus on interior design development for new-build and renovation projects. They are experienced in interior design for hospitality, including restaurant and hotel environments and their key duties include:

  • Lead interior design development for new-build and renovation projects.
  • Provide interior design expertise, developing comprehensive drawing sets, and creating integrated interior specification documents.
  • Champion a commitment to and ongoing development of brand-standardized interior design packages.
  • Ensure that properties conform to our uniformly high standards and are current with relevant product selections.
  • Manage multiple interior design projects; prepare and monitor interior budgets and schedules; organize and participate in design and construction meetings; integrate and communicate interior design information across inter-departmental and site-based project teams.
  • Prepare and overview preliminary costing and comparative material sourcing.
  • Review accuracy, omissions, errors, and legibility of all interior drawing and specification packages.
  • Mentor and lead junior and technologist team members.
  • Develops meaningful relationships with Northland Properties' extensive network of hospitality suppliers.
  • Present ideas and concepts to Executive and Ownership-level decision-makers.
  • Support the growth and development of company culture and professionally represent Northland Properties

What are we looking for?

  • 7+ years of experience in Hotel and Restaurant Interior Design.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Senior Designers' role.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or a similar design-related field
  • Additional experience in Hotel and Restaurant Interior Design is an asset.
  • IDC, RID, and/or NCIDQ preferred
  • Versatile and flexible, with excellent creative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of hotel and restaurant furnishings, manufacturers for furniture systems, fixtures, and finish-related materials, with ability to direct sourcing and researching, as appropriate.
  • Strong competence in technical interior design programming and contract document development, including development of plan sets, specifications, calculations, and application of industry standards.
  • Excellent AutoCAD, InDesign, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Confidently able to present design concepts to Executive and Ownership-level decision-makers.
  • Highly organized, with capacity to manage multiple projects at various stages of development.
  • Ability to prepare and overview preliminary costing and comparative material sourcing.
  • Knowledge of millwork and detailing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative and professional work ethic.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
