Description
Director, Human Resources
St. George’s School
Vancouver, BC
St. George’s School stands as a beacon of academic excellence and community engagement. With a rich heritage dating back to 1930, St. George’s is a leading independent K-12 day and boarding university preparatory school. Renowned for its unwavering commitment to fostering intellectual curiosity, creativity and character, St. George’s School provides a vibrant and inclusive learning environment. As an institution deeply rooted in tradition yet forward-thinking in its approach to education, St. George's School continues to prepare students for success in a rapidly changing world. The dedicated faculty and staff, alongside engaged parents, work collaboratively to instill a lifelong love of learning and a sense of responsibility to the wider community.
With a pending retirement, the School now seeks a new Director of Human Resources. Reporting to the Head of School, the Director will help advance the School’s mission and operations through human resource leadership, innovation, and service excellence. An opportunity exists to develop a future-ready staff culture rooted in excellence, leveraging the recently launched Ready and Relevant Strategic Plan. The new Director will be the very centre of meaningful, strategic work in crafting and developing talent into a forward-thinking and engaged team. Building on an existing HR plan, whose central tenet focuses on ‘building employee engagement…one employee at a time’. Overseeing a small unit, the Director wholly develops and owns the human resource strategic plan and provides leadership and vision for all areas of human resources including recruitment, retention, policy, compensation, benefits, professional development, succession planning and employee relations.
The ideal candidate brings a proven track record as a Human Resources generalist with a depth of senior level HR experience gained in the private, public or education sector. Expertise in HR 'best practices' and innovative program development is essential, along with excellent interpersonal skills, discretion, and the ability to create a positive work environment. Demonstrated abilities in organizational development, recruitment, employee relations, and performance management are important assets. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills and high emotional intelligence, rooted in integrity and respect. A CPHR designation or related education strongly preferred.
The Director will play a critical role in continuing to shape the human capital landscape of St. George's School to develop strategies that support an engaged working environment and promote a culture that values employees and fosters best practices in human resources.
