The Opportunity

McElhanney has a unique opportunity for an Intermediate Airport Civil Engineer to join our team in Vancouver, BC. We are seeking a Professional Engineer with a strong technical background and the ability to communicate effectively within a project team. This individual will be responsible for design and delivery of diverse airport projects. Our ideal candidate will have experience working on airport improvement projects, both groundside and airside. Additional experience with general roadwork and utility infrastructure experience would also be highly beneficial. This role is ideal for a self-starter who can excel in a mature, privately held, multidisciplinary organization.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide detailed design support in the production of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications, meeting all client and approval agency requirements. Typical projects include airside and groundside works, local utility rehabilitation and renewal projects, and airport related land development projects.
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparation of calculations, cost estimates, tender documents, contracts, and documents required for approvals.
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.
  • Ensure all client requirements are met throughout the design and reporting process.
  • Provide and oversee tasks delegated to junior engineers and other technical staff.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 4+ years of experience in a similar role with a degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia or another provincial regulator.
  • Understanding of aerodrome, airport and heliport design including familiarity with TP312E, FAA circulars, ICAO, and/or IATA.
  • Proficiency in the application of design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, AviPLAN, Excel, and/or other related software.
  • High productivity, attention to detail, effective verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Experience working with construction contractors and approving authorities. Construction Administration experience is an asset.
  • Ability to travel for occasional site visits.
  • Experience working in a construction or consulting environment is an asset.

Salary Range: $70,000-$106,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The salary range being offered reflects McElhanney’s desire to consider civil engineers with varying levels of experience and the salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
