Description

The Company

UBC Properties Trust (UBCPT) was established in 1988. We build financial legacy and create innovative spaces to live and learn at UBC. We develop, service and lease residential land at UBC to create communities and build UBC’s endowment for future generations. We construct and manage rental properties to provide residential, retail and office space to support workforce housing and other academic objectives. We provide project management services to construct institutional buildings for UBC, and advise on land use and development. We operate on both the Point Grey campus and UBC Okanagan; and have two property management divisions, Village Gate Homes (UBC staff and faculty rentals) and Wesbrook Properties (market rental).

The Team

The Marketing team is responsible for all marketing activities including those for our two property management divisions. The diverse role of UBCPT at both campuses in Point Grey and the Okanagan requires our dynamic marketing team to strategize and build true marketing assets that support:

 

  • Branding and advertising of our neighbourhoods
  • Rental product UBCPT develop and manage
  • Third-party developers that build on UBC residential neighbourhoods
  • Our commercial tenants
  • Other stakeholders (indirectly)

The Opportunity

We can offer a dynamic, creative and collaborative environment for someone passionate about marketing and who’s ready to contribute their ideas and skills to a small team. We are seeking a Marketing Assistant to support our Marketing team: someone who is proactive and can adapt to evolving business needs. The ideal candidate has previous experience in creating content and executing a social media strategy for multiple accounts and using the following tools and programs: Apple products, Canva, Sprout Social, Adobe Acrobat, and MS Office. The role is on-site and located at our head office in Wesbrook Village, UBC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of brand recognition of UBCPT brands – Live at UBC, Wesbrook Village, UBC Properties Trust, Village Gate Homes, Wesbrook Properties, and any other future brands
  • Researching, developing and scheduling content for social media
  • Community Management of social media platforms – IG and FB
  • Participate in and research idea generation for campaigns, events, projects, etc.
  • Sourcing quotations related to marketing projects
  • Coordinate community engagement initiatives and events such as commercial tenant communications and other such initiatives as required
  • Assist the Communications Manager in creating monthly marketing activity reports, metrics and insights
  • Provide administrative support to the marketing team
  • Point person for Property Management team for website updates or issues
  • Other tasks and duties, as assigned

Competencies and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2+ years' experience in a marketing role
  • Post-secondary education in marketing, business or communications
  • In depth knowledge and familiarity with UBC campuses in terms of the community, geography and amenities is preferred
  • Professional experience with managing social media accounts
  • Demonstrate dependability, responsibility, accountability, excellent work ethic, and possess a team attitude that contributes to a positive work environment with a can-do attitude and a focus on results
  • Ability to take initiative and responsibility for tasks
  • Excellent prioritization, multi-tasking and organization skills and has a sense of urgency when needed
