Position Deion

As part of TWC’s Digital Services department, the Technical Lead, Geomatics will spearhead the development, management, and execution of geomatic services, both as an individual service line and in support of our other service areas. They will lead TWC in innovating and advancing geospatial systems and technical processes to provide high quality, industry-leading services to TWC’s diverse client base.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Lead the delivery of services such as mapping, geospatial analysis and modeling, remote sensing processes, and data management.
- Set the technical direction and development of internal geospatial systems and processes including hardware and software requirements, standards, and documentation.
- Stay on the leading edge of emerging geomatics tools and best practices and bring innovative solutions to TWC and our clients to establish TWC as an industry leader.
- Develop approaches for working with clients to support documentation and reporting of spatially referenced Indigenous Knowledge and other information sources in a culturally safe manner.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external collaborators and clients by developing a comprehensive understanding of needs, priorities, and objectives while providing support and services.
- Grow the geomatics team through supporting resource planning, recruitment, and team member training and development.
- Lead business development for the geomatics service line by establishing or building upon existing strategic relationships, leading relevant proposal development, and networking.

Qualifications

- Minimum undergraduate degree or diploma in GIS, geomatics, geography, computer science, or environmental science are a requirement. Graduate degree(s) in a related field and/or other continuing education or professional designation are assets.
- 10+ years of relevant and progressive experience, including professional consulting experience.
- Experience with ESRI GIS desktop systems (i.e., ArcGIS Pro and extensions, Story Maps) and ArcGIS Online tools is considered a requirement. Experience with enterprise and development systems and other web map applications is considered an asset.
- Experience with GIS systems development and maintenance is a requirement.
- Excellent technical and analytical skills, including experience with data management and analysis, preparing technical reports, and communicating complex issues in plain language for a variety of audiences.
- Strong capability and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to work well in a team and independently to meet deadlines.
- Experience working with Indigenous nations to conduct mapping activities related to gathering and spatially referencing Indigenous Knowledge is considered an asset.

Working Location

Work will be typically performed in one of TWC’s offices or your remote home office. Some project assignments may require a presence at client sites, including offices, project operations, communities, and other premises.

Travel

Occasional travel will be required to achieve the duties and responsibilities above to serve clients’ and TWC’s needs.
