Reporting to the Project Manager, the Engineering Manager is responsible for addressing and mitigating the risks associated with the engineering work scopes performed on the project by the team and Engineering Services providers. There are two Engineering Manager contract positions available to support our client's projects in the Elk Valley. These positions are located at our client's Calgary or Vancouver office, with a component of remote work.

Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience of Project or Engineering experience in project construction management roles (major infrastructure projects)
• Mining/process plant project implementation REQUIRED
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline or eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer in BC
• Experience as Projects "Owner" at a major mining company preferred or to the minimum, an EPCM contractor
• Experience in project management systems and an understanding of multiple phases of project execution
• Budget + Resource Management

Responsibilities:

• Develop scope for engineering and construction contracts; proposal or bid evaluation and consultant selection; oversight of engineering consultants; engineering change management, and quality and risk management.
• Progress the Engineering Safety in Design initiative on the project and champion strategies which promote sustainability, inclusion and diversity and measurably reduce hazards to people and the environment
• Provide quality assurance across engineering service providers’ deliverables and activities including execution plans, HAZOPs, risk registers, quality management systems and technical reports
• Develop the Scope of Work for the Engineering Work Packages and review Engineering Service Providers procedures, specifications and deliverables lists
• Lead value engineering and management of change process for engineering scope during all project phases from design through construction including Field Change Request and Request for Information processes
