Description
An opportunity exists for a successful candidate to lead our British Columbia Region in the role of Regional Leader (RL). Reporting to the Regional Operating Unit Growth Leader (ROUGL), the Regional Leader (RL) is responsible and accountable for ensuring consistency and collaboration across business lines and functional services teams within the region. The Regional Leader will contribute to driving the topline growth through strategic initiatives and effective account management by promoting cross-selling of services across all business lines. Other key components of the role include partnering with the Business Leaders (BLs) and Regional Business Leaders (RBLs) with identification of new opportunities, client satisfaction, and employee engagement, as well as the overall performance of the region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Focus:
- Focus on local and regional clients; partner and coordinate with Business Leaders (BLs), Sector Leaders (SLs), Regional Business Leaders (RBLs) and Account Managers within the Region.
- Where appropriate, be a key member or lead Account Manager for major multi-business line clients within the region.
- Achieve minimum client- and proposal-specific marketing and business development (M&BD), initiatives inclusive of internal cross-selling.
- Personally, pursue and lead significant regional multi-disciplined project pursuits.
People Leadership:
- Act as a highly regarded leader, thought partner and a source of counsel and advisor for the region.
- Be personally involved in key client relationships, strategic project pursuits and major project leadership within the region.
- Proactively identify opportunities to reinforce and further develop Stantec’s high-performance culture with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and productivity.
- Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.
- Uphold a corporate culture that promotes ethical, inclusion and diversity, and safety culture practices; encourages individual integrity, and focuses on the customer and service delivery.
- Responsible for process management and monitoring of employee engagement feedback, and accountable for the region’s BC Improvement Plans.
- Responsible for the development and consistency of the Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Developing Professional Groups (DPG) in the Region to enhance our employee experience and drive retention in the region.
Health and Safety:
- Responsible for the health and safety performance within the region, including the monitoring of leading and lagging indicators and follows up on business center (BC) Improvement Plans.
- Promote compliance with regulatory requirements and the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment & Sustainability HSSE management system.
Quality and Innovation:
- Provide support to Regional Business Leaders where appropriate for compliance with the ISO-certified Integrated Management System and Project Management (PM) Framework.
- Responsible for coordinating and managing the client feedback survey process within the regional business lines.
Business Development and Collaboration:
- Responsible for promoting collaboration of all Business Leaders, Regional Business Leaders, Sector Leaders, Discipline Leaders and Account Managers; focus on cross-selling to consistently win new work with clients within the region.
- Partner with the Business Leaders and Regional Business Leaders for development of their marketing and business development (M&BD) plans.
- Market potential clients for multidisciplined/multi-BOU pursuits in coordination with Account Managers
- Ensure positive marketplace reputation through established partnerships with Leaders within the region.
- Participate in risk reviews (BOURC and ELRC’s) for the multidisciplined/multi-Business Operating Unit (BOUL) pursuits.
- Coordinate and support development of cost proposals for multidisciplined/multi-BOU pursuits.
- Coordinate and support development of technical proposals for multidisciplined/multi-BOU pursuits.
- Develop and maintain Stantec’s Integrated Practice in the specified region. Which includes:
- The development and maintenance of a cohesive Stantec brand
- Key client and account development and maintenance
- Market and community outreach and engagement
- Maintain and enhance relationships with local municipal clients, universities and post-secondary institutions, local economic development agencies, etc.
Financial Management:
- Support the annual business plan and budget within the assigned Region.
- Work collaboratively with the Corporate Real Estate group, manage Real Estate transactions. Coordinate and collaborate with ROUL, BLs, RBLs, and Office Leaders to manage business and people impact to drive office consolidation that meets business objectives, upholds our brand of design excellence, and encourages collaboration while simultaneously mitigating long term cost to Stantec.
- Partner with the BLs, RBLs and SLs to meet net revenue, gross margin, SG&A, and operating income targets in the BCs within the Region.
- Collaborate with the RBLs to provide support for the development and implementation of improvement plans for underperforming operations within the Region.
- Accountable for effectively managing shared services, FST, occupancy and administrative expenses within the region.
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Senior leadership experience with a large volume organization combined with a university degree in a related discipline.
- Strong communication and business development skills and will be a results-oriented individual who excels in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Desire to succeed, are enthusiastic, collaborative, and possess the highest degree of integrity.
- Strong financial management, and team building skills are essential for the candidate to meet the expectations of this position.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):
Salary Range(s):
- Lower Mainland $178,700 - Lower Mainland $277,000 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
